The Pieces of the 1962 Varna Olympiad

Long have I wanted to acquire the Bulgarian reproduction of the set used in the 1962 Varna Olympiad. Recently, a friend pointed me to an early model Ruhla clock, which I obtained. The seller was Bulgarian, and had this set on sale for a very reasonable price, so I picked it up, too. Here is the set

I quite agree. The Marshall-style knights of the Varna are dead ringers for those of the '39 Magistral set, and like the '39 Magistral, the Varna pieces are constructed of multiple parts that are screwed together.
