I've become a fan of the Dubrovnik pattern only recently, and as a direct result of perusing this forum.  This crimson colored version has drawn some criticism but I think it's gorgeous!  Great pics!

Thanks!

White, ivory, boxwood, maple. HOS has a line where the White pieces are blood rosewood and the Black pieces are ebony, and other companies market sets where the White pieces are red. I doubt that any TD would allow their use over a timely objection.

See my king all dressed in red. Iko iko in-day. Bet you five dollars he'll kill you dead. Iko Iko un-day. Hey now, hey now...

What about green or orange?

Another shot or two of the Romanian/Hungarian set, here on the refinished Spanish board. You can see the red border I added to accent the red pieces.

Here's some close-up pics of another Red Romanian set

Great shots picking up all the details of the many angled facets of the knights, Mike!

My set for outdoor play in the park appears deep burgundy in the picture, but is much lighter in real life:

I really like that set.

Is there a place selling them today?

The closest I found was the source below, but the knight is different:

http://www.amazon.com/KASPAROV-International-Master-Chess-Set/dp/B000RZQTUI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_21_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0BSW74ZWG124QJS472F8

It is a "Kasparov" set for sure, with very tall rooks.

Note: my set is plastic, but the one in the link is wood.
