That would be VERY cool. I hope he gets the knights mouths right. Also maybe the ridiculous prices originals are fetching now might cool off when these new ones come on the market.

Bumped into this listing, which answers my question about why no Kickstarter of goFundMe page... may have to jump on this one, and hope the time to actuality doesn't go as long as the Ultimate Set did.

Old plastic chess sets are much better quality and much more elegant than the ones made in China. Some sellers keep barking on here and elsewhere than modern plastic chess made in China is OK but to them profit is more important than truth. Finding vintage plastic chess set with king size of 3.75” or above is not easy at all though, if anyone can find one specially drueke he is very lucky.

Let's see.  You are dead wrong about the old plastic chess sets being much better quality and deadly wrong about the elegance.

You are also dead wrong about China only producing poor quality sets.  You can find poor quality sets produced from just about anywhere.  And there are some very nice sets made in China.  To wit, look at the Ultimate Chess set that has just been released.

Stauntonmaster is obviously trying to keep barking about buying sets from the very few companies he wants people to buy sets from.

Yes, Stauntonmaster is trying to create more profit for these very few companies.

And yes, Stauntonmaster is obviously trying to take unfair advantage of those naive enough to believe the actual lies and wrong information he is writing.

I am reminded of an odd incident involving Drueke sets back when I still played in tournaments in the 60.s.  The players choice sets were very much in use (probably the most popular set in tournaments).  In the tournaments players started noticing that one of their Drueke pieces would be  missing after a round.  There was some creep who was perfectly happy to ruin 32 sets (if he had attained his goal)  to get one for himself free.  It was pretty easy to figure out who it was by who the opponent was when pieces went missing.   They caught him red handed by watching him surreptitiously - as I recall they banned him for life  from tournaments in the state.

I picked up a Drueke set like this recently:

https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-drueke-sons-simulated-wood-440996731

It has a folding linen board (green/off white) with 2 1/4" squares.

The pieces are very heavy - heavier than the usual 35 sets. Someone has penciled in an H behind the 6635 on the box -  I am not sure what that was about.

Do you happen to recall how much you payed for it, or how much you would have been willing to pay for it? I recently acquired one of these sets, and am looking to sell it, so a price range would be greatly appreciated.

I want to say it was around $60 plus shipping.  I got it at a non ebay auction site where things can go really cheaply or somewhat higher than ebay - it is just plain erratic but I have gotten some good deals there.    I saw one sell  on ebay* awhile ago that went for a bit north of $200.   Not a common set by any means - I suspect the board alone would fetch a good price since it is of a pretty heavy construction.

*I think it also had the H penciled in.

We are talking about the folding linen boards, right?

Yes.

How would the weights of the set effect what you payed for it? My set is minimally weighted, instead of the double or triple weighted. Also, are all of this type of pieces slightly magnetic?
