How to find a coach

Hello!

I just started back chess. I always enjoyed to improve when I do something. I'm writting, I play poker and I would like to put more time into chess. I've been a professionnal poker player for 5 years, forced to stop for health issues. I mainly played tournaments and heads up back then. I'm the kind of guy who needs the interaction with humans, that's why I would like to have a coach. I don't mind investing some money in.

The problem is that there's so many videos out there and so many coaches so it's hard to see where to start and who would be the most appropriate person to help me. So I thought maybe asking the community it could helps. My main language is french so sorry if I made any mystakes in my post.

Thanks!

Well there are coaches listed here on chess.com so that seems a logical place to start (Connect>coaches) and who speaks French better than the French?  Anyway I did a search and came up with 7 coaches for you...

Hi!

My name is Gabor Balazs. I am a Hungarian FM, fighting for the IM title. My top ELO is 2435. I have been playing chess for 21 years. I won the Hungarian Rapid Championship twice (U16 and U18). I love teaching chess and it is very important for me that both of us enjoy the lessons beside the hard work. I have pupils almost all the levels from beginners to advanced players (1100-2200 ELO).
You can see a lot of feedbacks from my coaching services here: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-lessons/feedbacks-from-my-services
Why should you choose me?
- I have a widespread opening repertoire (a lot of openings are analysed by strong Grand Masters).
- I have a lot of chess books in PDF and Chessbase format, so I can teach you the main middlegame plans, the art of calculations, famous chess games and the endgame theory.
- I have elaborated, personalized training plans, which help you to improve your skills effectively.
- I help you analyse your games deeply, so you can realise your mistakes and learn from them.
- I am really flexible and hard-working person, the quality of my work is really important for me.
My rate is 50 USD/hour. But if you start working with me in June I give you 50% discount from the first 2 lessons!

https://chessmood.com/courses ChessMood is created by Armenian Grandmaster Avetik Grigoryan, who has started his coaching career for a long time ago, he is a very kind and friendly person. You can become a Pro member in chessmood (it costs 29$ per month). All courses will available for you, and not only. Even there is a chance 1-1 call with him and ask your questions about courses, or just get your studying plan.

Really? 5th in the World? Can't see any Americans in the Top 25 of the official rankings...
