Chess Mentor Rating

Hi,

Does anyone know how this Rating Works ?

In the beginning,my Rating increased by quite a lot ( like > 30 points ) but after some time,it only increased by a few points.

..  eg I got 100% for a certain Problem but I only got 2 points n' I got > 50% for another but got minus points instead n' now after 40 plus lessons ,I get 0 points for getting > 70% ,etc .

Is it not gonna increase anymore after this ,if I continue to do more Lessons ?

Do I have to reset my Rating ,maybe after a certain number of Lessons ?

Tnx.

Don't worry about your rating for chess mentor, rating changes and the difficulty level of lessons seem quite random. Just focus on if you're learning anything.

Kikyo_Sushi

Tnx but I still wld like to know if there is a System for the Ratings .. juz curious .

Scottrf

Well, if you're getting more rating rating points for one puzzle than another it will be because that puzzle is rated higher.

Just how many you get will be based on your score, and your rating in comparison to the puzzles, I doubt anyone will give you an exact formula though.

The most Puzzling thing is that now I'm not getting any more points .. it says 0 points .. for my continued lessons .

I'm wondering if this is the End of my Rating increase or decrease ,no matter how many more I do ,or do I have to reset it ?

Kikyo_Sushi

I juz did some more lessons n' am getting points now .

Wld be Cool tho ,if Some One can explain how the Scoring System works ; like how many points we lose for each wrong move or if we click on 'give hint' ,etc.

Also,I think there is no Time Limit, right ?

Tnx.

It`s while you win or loose or tie games!!!

im getting 0 points too but then again i already ones had 2200 points, which i find a bit weird because im not even close to 2000... but anyway the points make it challenging and interesting, that was a good idea

I think there might be time involved coz if I take too long, even if I get right,I only get a few or no points .. but not sure abt this tho.

Anyway,I try to do as fast as possible nowadays.

I found some Explanation abt Chess Mentor Rating but not very clear tho.

i dont think there is time involved, i think you confunsing it with tactics trainer

Not to torpedo this discussion, but can't you reset your "mentor rating" and re-try solved exercises (with 100% accurate + fast responses) and therefore make a mockery of things?

I believe time used to be a factor in Mentor, but they changed that a while ago.

I guess u could but your Rating wouldn't be Real then ( not that it's important or really Accurate tho ) .. more for Personal Challenge n' Fun,in my opinion .. like what TetsuoShima said above.

That's why I prefer not to reset it .. Similarly for TT.

Scottrf

Nobody cares that you found a workaround to get a high mentor rating.

PhoenixTTD

3200 would be impressive if you also had a high completion amount and had not reset it.  26 lessons?  Not so much.

Your chess mentor point is not a guarantee of quality. As evidence, you have been defeated by player who has a rating under you. In fact, you were beaten to the punch by checkmate 3 times at once !
