This is a message from West Orange Chess Club President John Hagerty:

It is with extreme sadness to report to all West Orange Chess Club (WOCC) members that I was informed yesterday morning by his sister Pamela that longtime club member Charles M. Hart has died of a heart attack.  As many of you know, Charlie was seriously ill but was courageously battling his illness and he was feeling very optimistic that he would eventually come back to play chess at the club and battle us.  He was a good person who I personally knew for many years even before the inception of the WOCC in 1978.  He had been involved for many years at the former Montclair Chess Club.

Sincerely, John M. Hagerty, President of the West Orange Chess Club

Charlie will be missed.

It comes off as rather insincere and perfunctory to post something so serious to an audience 99% of whom never knew or cared about your chess club much less an individual member within it.

Use the information you stockpiled while collecting dues to send e-mails. Don't post someone's death on a public forum as if more than .01% of us will care.

But let me guess, you're 60 years old and don't understand how the internet works.

Too bad.

Why so angry at everyone? Are you having troubles in your offline life?

I think these things while reading posts all the time.

But it's only when I'm drunk that I go ahead and post them. It's not really about being angry, I'm just saying what I think at the time.

Looking back now it's a little embarrassing, because sure, people get upset and just want to feel like they're doing something. He's posting about a serious topic and it's not helpful to belittle him.
