A Bust to the Sicilian Defense

That is actually an extremely disrespectful comment by Sveshnikov. Semyon Alapins results were anything but modest. He’s one of the greatest players of all time and he doesn’t deserve that kind of disrespect

nighteyes1234

The ellipsis... the ellipsis,

It is analogous to apoptosis

The ellipsis... ellipsis

Why sound it generic?

Ellipsis... ellipsis comes with much stearic

Albeit it doesn't function

With the same importance

You glance

I wanted to have the #1981 post of this thread, since this is the year of my birth 😊😊

If you posted on your birthday, then kudos to you for being able to efficaciously navigate through all this tumultuous, virulent talk sprinkled with partial vitriol. (It would have been far less challenging and arduous a task had vitriol become a derivative - Who doesn't like partial derivatives?) It is most unfortunate that your Elo rating was not in correspondence with your birth year or post number, but never mind.

Well you can't have everything in life... At least I can brag about my patience. Hahahahaha

I am a Sicilian (ethnicity wise) and even I have to admit that it’s a terrible opening

"The Sicilian Defense is Black's most popular defense to 1 e4 for both serious amateur and professional players. The opening is active and unsymmetrical as well as positionally sound. Kasparov and Fischer were devotees of the opening, though all World Champions of the last hundred years have used it at least fairly extensively. Kramnik, Anand, Topalov, and Carlsen are some of the adherents. … the games tend to be lively, with fierce struggles and winning chances for both sides. The lively play, combined with the inherent soundness of the defense, is the reason for the Sicilian's popularity. ..." - GM Nick de Firmian (2007)

YOU HAVE THE UNITED STATES FLAG ON YOUR PROFILE, NOT THE FLAG OF ITALY!!!!!!!! DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT SICILY IS IN ITALY?

Ethnicity wise

Well being massacred by the Ostrogoths does not ostensibly have much meaning

Here’s my most recent game. A one minute no increment bullet game. This game is particularly instructive as it features the Staples13 variation of the Alapin where white castles queenside and launches an unstoppable attack on blacks kingside. Enjoy!!

nikos8109

Seriously this thread needs to be terminated. I haven't received a report a month or so ago. So staples sees that his thread is practically over and sunk into oblivion, so he does something to bring it to the surface...

nikos8109

So for me, this is an over and out message

staples13

The logic behind the Staples13 variation is simple. Black is behind in both center control and development, so white wants to aggressively attack. The best way to do that is to castle queenside and then launch a mating attack on blacks kingside

I looked at your games and I see you struggle mightily against the Sicilian. This is unfortunate because you have the incredible resource of knowledge that is this thread with which to combat the Sicilian but instead choose to ignore it.

This thread has helped thousands of players learn to crush the Sicilian, and it can do the same for you! Unfortunately SpiderUnicorn is probably beyond hope at this point though

Is that game a joke KindaSpongey? First off his name is Evgeny Sveshnikov and he’s a grandmaster rated like 2600 not 2000

kindaspongey

You can see where I found the game. In any event, the question is whether or not 6...d6 would be an improvement over 6...e6. And, of course, we can also keep in mind that we have been told:

"... [2...d5] and [2...Nf6] do provide much stiffer resistance than any of black's other responses. ..."
