Read the title of the thread!

What the bleep does the Queen's Gambit have to do with defending against 1.e4?

SMH!

As explained earlier in the thread, there is no such thing as White or Black openings.  The Queen's Gambit is the position after 1.d4 d5 2.c4 - it has nothing to do with having specifically the White pieces.  I have played the Black in the Queen's Gambit many times.  It is still the Queen's Gambit even with Black!

There is nothing toxic about what I said!  Do we have a snowflake here?

When you say the queen's gambit is a white opening you mean that the player entering the variation is white - 2.c4 for WHITE

It is still not a "White" Opening.  It is an opening.  Who plays the final move that deems it's label does not become that color of opening.

Yes, White is the one that played 2.c4, but Black also had to play 1...d5 to get a Queen's Gambit.  1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 is NOT the Queen's Gambit, same with 1.d4 f5 2.c4.  Therefore, the Queen's Gambit is NOT a White Opening.  It is an opening, period, not attached to either color!

Just like how the French is not a Black Opening - White had to play 1.e4 to get there.  Both sides contribute to the opening and variation, and so no opening is a White or Black opening.  They are simply openings.  You can say what your intent is, but that still doesn't validate anything.

I can say that when someone says duck, they mean jump up really high, but that does not change the fact, despite any "claim" you might make, that when anyone tells you to duck, they mean to bend down, usually implying something is coming at your head!

The person who suggested the queens gambit is ≈300 rated in rapid. I think @TheUltraTrap was correct, as it was a little harsh for a novice.

We should encourage beginners to improve, instead of getting mad at them for not having the same knowledge we have

And he doesn't even play the Queen's Gambit against 1.e4. He prefers the improved Owen's Defense, but he did not reveal his secret weapon.

What aggressive openings and gambits are there against e4? D4 too, but e4 is more common, and thus more important.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but you can always try to get the Blackburne Schilling Gambit in if you use the variation with the knight on f6 like this

, or the fishing pole trap (much weaker but fun)
