Now that I think of it, it sort of reminds me of a game of checkers.
b3, Ba3

P_or, I don't think so at all. I think he could get into some Owen Defense lines by playing 3. Bb2...

1.b3 d5 2.Ba3 is completely stupid, too. The bishop does nothing there.
The Costa- Miralles game looks like a pre-arranged draw, so anything would go in it.

I agree. The point of 1. b3 is to fianchetto the bishop. I see no purpose in playing 2. Ba3. Each move should accomplish something helpful. White's best option is 2. Bb2 in order to control the a1-h8 diagonal.

My latest game was a real eye opener.
I made a big boo boo, I was quite happy up to around move 19.
Have no idea what made me go wrong after that :)
I'll blame it on time.

How would you refutre it? 1.b2-b3, if e7-e5 normale, then bc1-a3 is perfect sense, if d7-d5 move 1, then how to refutre> 2.bc1-a3 so if may be g7-g6 then as India plays her first game, d4-c3 and bishop is good, out the chain.
It's not crazy, Mr. Badur did a worse way (traditionally worse, this is) against world champ Magnuss

If playing 1.b3 e5 2.Ba3 appeals to you, then it's apparent that you don't know much about misplaced pieces (a knight at a3) or central control (Black can easily set a "big center" at no cost). Even in the case Black declines the nice gift and plays 2...d6 (not the best move by a long shot, but still very logical), you will find it very hard to justify that stupid bishop at a3.

Ok, very good, but if you take the nice gift then i will play as mr. jobava, like ok, after bf8xa3 nb1-xa3 you will play your biggest centre, d7-d5. then i will play qd1-c1. Ng8-f6. Qc1-b2. Nb8-c6. castles longside. with a double edge game.
remember it is not about the advantagre just to try ha ha to the opponent

If you play like that against a moderately strong player, I'm afraid he will be bored even to laugh at you.
Would it be rude to ask GM Hikaru to play b3, Ba3?
