I'm wondering what people think of the Benko gambit and good plans as black and White

Thanks DF

This game illustrates what Black wants to accomplish with the Benko. http://www.cob.sjsu.edu/splane_m/chess/Levitan13.htm

I disagree with the concluding comment to the game given in the first post in this thread regarding Black's best plan. In Benko's book he recommended playing a quick ...f5 to open the f-file when White put his king on g2.

Delaying the Benko pawn offer gives Black more flexibility. After 1. d4 Nf6  2. c4 c5   3. d5 d6  4. Nc3 g6  5. Nf3 Bg7  6. g3 0-0  7. Bg2 is a Benoni where it is easier to play b7-b5 than in other Benoni lines because the white bishop is not guarding b5.  Against 6. e4 I play b5 as a gamit, because I think 7. Bd3 gives White a good setup against a Benoni.
