BEST DEFENCE

What is the most favourable defence against e2-e4 for black, excluding e7-e5? You can quote defence type name & I will reserch it on my PC. Thanks

It depends on your preferences and preparation. All of the major defenses work well.

Best depends what sort of positions you like.

Generalisations, but Sicilian tends to be more attacking, Caro Kann is a bit slower/more solid, then there's the French, Pirc, Scandinavian etc which are all good openings.

Thanks for the feedback. I will study the Sicillian as presently I favour the Pirc defence. I find this defence seems to slow more players down on their clocks i.e. this defense is more unusual. Comments?

Pirc is fine, don't waste time studying the Sicilian.

That's a d4 defence.

1. ...e6 because it can lead to French , Sicilian , and Benoni at some lines with 2.d4 c5 3.d5 exd5 4.exd5 d6

The Sicilian Najdorf is the absolute best play in chess, but the problem is everyone seems to know it so you'd need to spend countless time learning the theory. 

For me, sicilian works best for me. Any other opening like french might do well, but you need to study the opening well.

sicilian for sure but it is double-edged sword

The topic should have been: "What is the second best defense?" E5 is saying to white bring your best fastball and I'm still gonna knock it out of the park.
