Bird’s Opening

1...d5 and play a reversed Dutch. I played it a long time ago but the thing is, even though it's a reversed Black opening does not mean that White gets a better version simply from having an extra move in hand.

I play Bird myself. Rarely meet it, but when I do, I play 1...e5 From or 1...d5 Dutch reversed, according to what I feel like that day.

Yes, because white's main try against the Dutch is a slow system of fianchettoing the kingside and building pressure. One move extra against this system isn't worth much as you still have static weaknesses that are going nowhere. Both sides are just doing their thing. Computer engines seem to confirm this by actually giving black a very slight advantage, same with master games results.
This contrasts for if white likes playing the Hopton attack against the Dutch and tries it "reversed" against the Bird. In the Hopton all moves are extremely time-critical. Naturally if you try to play the Hopton Attack reversed against the Bird - hopefully someone is still following me here - it doesn't really work at all. (Sometimes against lower rated players in blitz you can kind of get similar positions to an inferior Hopton reversed but it's a bit contrived and nothing to write home about in the best of circumstances).
How do you usually respond to f4?
