The Sicilian cannot be played against the Colle.
Can the Colle counter the Sicilian?

Sicilian: 1. e4 c5
Colle: 1. d4 where white follows up with e3, Bd3, Nf3, etc.
If you play 1. d4 and black replies with ...c5, that's not the Sicilian -- unless white plays 2. e4, I guess.

2 e4 is I guess what he was referring to. You can understand my confusion.
Yes it doesn't sound like he should be trying to give advise.

Ofcourse Colle takes care of the sicilian, since the sicilian can't be played against 1.d4.
1.d4 also takes care of Alekhine defence, scandinavian and so forth.
A better word than takes care though, is dodge, The Colle dodges the Sicilian, since it's no longer an option for black.
I was speaking with a friend the other day who was trying to convince me of the Colle's universal nature. I agreed with him it is an excellent general tool and great for a fallback but he told me it also takes care of the sicilian. I had not heard this and didn't lend much creedence to it but can anyone prove me wrong? I just thought the Sicilian was too dynamic against the more static Colle.
Am I wrong?
