c3 Bf5 Nf3 e6 and it's back into the mainline
Caro Kann Defence / Advance novelty?

3... c5 is advised by Jovanka Houska in her book: Play the Caro-Kann. It's a very interesting approach, so if you want more info about it, get that book!

@Flier
Thanks, I am going to buy the book, I just now found and read about the book it appears to be a good book.

Actually Nigel Davies was drunken when he suggested to play c5!. Don't listen to him again because he drinks alcohol so much. Try to use your favourate moves because you r not less talanted than Nigel.

This variation is definately intresting. It is a good way to avoid the huge theory involved in the mainline advance caro. Problem is that the reason there is less theory in the c5 advance caro is because it hasn't been mapped out yet and it is still up to debate if it is good or bad for black. Right now it is somewhat unclear. GM Lars Schandorff, author of GM repetoire The Caro-Kann says that it is still unresolved if black can get away with such an obvious tempo loss in the beginning of the game. Right now I guess it is a matter of taste.
Jovanka does cover this line well in her book, which is great for many other reasons aswell.
I have heard that GM Nigel Davies suggest playing c5 if white advances his pawn to e5 in the Caro Kann like shown in the example.
3.e5 and the novelty? suggested move c5 as black
I have tried to play in the club and I got not the result I wanted, but again I am no grandmaster and just because I cannot get a result with it doesn't mean it's bad
what do you think is this good for black or white?
