There's no such thing as the BEST opening. You just have to use an opening your comfortable with, know the main line and a bunch of variations, you understand the theory behind it so you can improvise, and gets you into a good position (without getting behind in material unless it's to get a bigger advantage soon).
the sodium attack...what does it give you high bloodpressure? openings are as good as you make them. at the top level openings go in and out of fashion. when theyre being tested by lots of masters then they are "the best" at that point in time. but at our level play anything you are comfortable with. i like closed positions where planning is superior to calculating so i play 1.d4 as white and semi-closed positions vs 1.e4 ( the french, caro-kann, and scillian taminov) vs 1.d4 im trying the gruenfeld but normally play classically with QGD or if im frisky the nimzo
