Definate draw Giuco piano

Sort:

comments i was interested in this because it seems like a pretty certain line of the giuoco piano/moller attack. and if this is so would'nt that mean in high levels of chess that it's pretty much a useless opening for white. comments?

I think it is to early to call it a draw really, particularly given the unevenness of the material and structure.

Fritz evaluates this position as dead drawn.

This has to be a draw. I don't see how either player could win against accurate play.

Ok two things... one,  I'm about 99% certain this isn't the guico piano opening. The second thing, you are assuming both players will make accurate moves. Unless they're grandmasters in the world's top 100 players, this game will probably be a 1-0 or a 0-1.

 1. This is the Giuoco Piano opening. Italian for 'quiet game,' the Giuoco Piano is characterized by the moves 1.e4 e5  2.Nf3 Nc6  3.Bc4 Bc5. It is a common response to the Italian Game 1.e4 e5  2.Nf3 Nc6  3.Bc4, and is extremely popular among beginners.

2. Analyzing a position assumes nothing of any players that might have reached or might reach that position. Where it is true that beginners would probably make mistakes in this position that would result in the game finishing in a win for one side, it is pointless to take this into account when looking at the position objectively. When analyzing a position objectively, one would do well to (and is expected to) try to find the best possible move for each side, on every move.

3. I am sure that many strong players (if they have studied their endgames) would be able to draw this game, given my analysis is correct that the game is drawn. I am nowhere close to the top 100 in the world, and I will never be a Grandmaster. However, I am rather sure that I would be able to draw this position, from either side, against strong opposition.
