I know. It's not a trap, but I just wanted to play it and see how much theory you knew. I ended up losing tho because of my daily habits

It is, you would have lost an exchange anyways, had you not fell for the royal fork or got your queen trapped as shown in the diagram
I also play the French. I even play e6 against d4 hoping for a transposition. I don't play the Winawer but I stick to a lot of mainline stuff.
I play the French as my main defense against 1.e4. I think I've gotten good results.
One thing though is the prevalence of the exchange on the part of white. You'd think white would want to play something more challenging such as 3.Nc3.

Yes I made a thread about it, https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/why-are-people-so-obsessed-by-trading-pawns-in-the-french
I'm not a fan of the French Defense, personally, because I don't like the difficulty developing the light-square bishop in the advance variation (1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5). I know it's perfectly sound for black, but most of us don't have the patience for spending 15-20 moves on a freeing maneuver. I have used it with black, and my results are not bad with it, but it just doesn't fit my preferred mode of play.
I am not an 1. e4 player anymore (I play the Reti as white these days), but back in high school I was, and many opponents then used the French, and not one of them even came away with so much as a draw against me with it. I would always play the advance variation back then, they would always castle into trouble (you really shouldn't castle kingside if you can't keep a knight on f6), and then I'd have plenty of time and two mobile bishops to crush them with.
I will say this - Nimzowitsch's book (My System) is absolutely required to understand how to play the French Defense as black, and extremely helpful in understanding how to counter it with white. The classical approach is insufficient.
What I play as black is 1. e4 e6 2. d4 b6, transposing from the French to the Owen Defense, which mobilizes both bishops from the start and prepares to attack white's pawn center immediately. It did take me a long time to work out the important lines, as there is no book on the Owen, aside from Staunton's suggestion of an early c5, which is wrong (d5 is the eventual pawn thrust you should be preparing, and the c-pawn needs to stay home for this).

The Owen Defense is utter crap. Simply avoid the English Defense, meaning do not play c4, and White is already significantly better.
I have played the Colle System maybe 30 times over the board and many times online. I have played the French Defense religiously to eternity.
The French and Colle are BY FAR the two most common openings to see the Greek Gift Sacrifice. I have had more successful Greek Gifts in Owen's Defense (all in favor of White) than I have in Colles and Frenches COMBINED!

The French is far and away the best opening! Give me White (3.Nc3, 3.e5, or the KIA) or Black (Exchange, Advance w/ 5...Qb6, Tarrasch w/ 3...c5, Winawer (7...Qc7, 7...O-O, 7...Kf8, 7...Nf5), McCutchen, Classical, Steinitz, Rubinstein, etc. Would be easier to say what I don't play as Black! Advance Lines with an early ...Bd7, Guimmard, Burn, and pretty much discontinued the Closed Tarrasch.
This thread is to discuss one about my fav opening, you can send lines, argue if it is bad or good, suggest, and such. I could have sent a lot of my knowledge abt it in this post, but it is too big and I am too lasy. I wanna wait for somebody and see how he starts it, and then I will share some knowledge. Hopefully this thread will see some knowledgeable french players
