i was an 1d4 player all my life but now i want to try something else, ill show you the variations im choosing:

the Apocalypse Attack against the caro-kann

i dont know this line name against the french

150 attack against the pirc

moscow and rossolimo attack against the sicilian

Giuoco Pianissimo against 1e5

i still need to find something vs the alekhine, scandinavian and another rare defences.

How are you, today?

I think you are doing pretty good, but remember, you do want to stay out of the book if you want to be a good chess player.

Peace be upon you.

saying the philidor gives no problems for white, is arrogance that would be punished by any serious philidor player. And I'm not talking about those 1000 elo players that play it without having a clue what they're doing...

i dont know maybe against the sicilian with early e6 and g6 i could set up a maroczy bind the others defences like the modern, the hipo, the lion philidor, and so on doesnt give withe any problem i think i can carry and small advantage just playing normal moves in a future ill study it but for now i want to focus in the most challenging answer to 1e4, my goal is to get an small advantage without much theory and leave black with less counterplay possible.

Why not play the 4. Qg4 line in the Winawer French? It leads to such fun positions!

i think it have a lot of theory like the najdorf sicilian and its exactly what a french player with the last winawer book want to i play i think he would be more unconfortable with a french exchange with a missplaced black bishop and no much chances to play for a win without take some rysk

I was like you, a lifetime 1.d4 player. Just recently, 3 years ago I switched to 1.e4. The Evans Gambit is my main weapon, but I don't mind going into an open Sicilian, mainly the Velimirovik Attack.

1.e4 is a different creature, isn't it? Pieces get out much faster than in the 1.d4 openings. Sometimes you get some really wild positions with 1.e4 e5.

not my case im not looking for wild positions i think i can keep more control of the game with 1e4 i think black have less good options in each move

Yeah my comment was actually wrong - by 'the 4. Qg4 line' i meant the 7. Qg4 line, was in a hurry when i wrote it. And yeah I agree, anyone who plays the French is likely to have learned quite a lot of theory in that line so maybe going with a variation (e.g. the exchange) that is less common is probably better! :)

Your openings are crap! ;)))

What about if they just play e5?

Avatar of go_pin

I don't like the line against the caro kann, i think you can pick up something better, like the exchange or Nc3 line.

line against winawer is okay, although there are alternatives with more complex positions, e.g. early Bd2 line.

You need a decent line against the two knights. I used to play the max lange, but i am not happy as often the position simplifies too much very early for my taste.

about other openings, i don't know..

I'd suggest the exchange variation against the Alekhine and 3.Nf3 against the Scandinavian.

I play both but lean toward 1.d4 these days. What's the "boring" 1.d4 repertoire? QG and Indian Defenses?

In recent  tournament, l played three times King's Gambit , 90|30 face to face.

It was very funny.

king's gambit is incorrect i don't play incorrect chess, at least on purpose

The Moscow is weak - I'd recommend modifying that.

Case in point - I was Black in this game on February 21st against a 2289 player in an Over the Board game, time control Game in 90 minutes:

Avatar of dpnorman

@ThrillerFan I don't think the Moscow is weak. The 5. 0-0 variation that your opponent played in that game is, as black equalizes. With 5. c4, white achieves a Maroczy Bind position with a slight edge. Look at the games of Sergei Rublevsky.
