Don't know really, because I've rarely played 1.d4.
So I'll just go with 1.e4
Hmm... I will start a game with both d4 and e4... see what happenes
but it depends on how the game goes though right?

I find e4 gives a quicker, shorter game and richer in tactics
d4 if I am in no hurry to finish the game, and definitely against stronger players.

1. e4 is definitely more interesting for me. 1. d4 wouldn't be so bad if more people replied 1. ... Nf6, but what I get when I play it here is most of them reply 1. ...d5 and that is really tedious.
why not play both. 1. D4 d5 2. E4!
