f6 break in French Defence
I'm a bit confused. Are you talking about White pushing the f pawn from f5 to f6? I have seen that done in some odd variations but normally that's well into the game. Please give me some more information so I can better answer your question.
Sorry my mistake....I meant the pawn break f7-f6...everywhere I looked it says that black plays f6 to put tension and break the center...,but when should this happen?
So far I've not encountered much need for it on blitz. The only time I use it is when the queenside play dies out. In those blitz games, however, the opponents are not generally well versed in the french. I have no idea how it should be used in longer, more well thought out games.
I am aware of the moves you mentioned first but when exactly should I play f6...you said when the tension and pressure have reached their peak...but when is this...I know with c5 Qb6 Nc6 you put pressure at d4 but what about e5?it seems to me that after Nh6-f5 the pressure is not enough...by doing this most of the times my opponents wont capture f6 and then I do not know what is the proper continuation...
When is it advisable to play f5-f6 in the French defense?when is it the right time to do so?
