Feedback on a Scandinavian defence typ line.

Hi knowledgable chess folks! I just played an opening along the scandinavian lines, that I thought ended up being quite clever. Obviously my opponent didnt play the best moves, but do you guys see any good moves for black after 5. Qf3? Of course maybe f6 or Qe7 but after 6.Qxc3 I must say I like white. What do you guys think?

5.......Nh4......better than Nd5  or is it ?

JoelKrueger

You mean a4? That will run into Qxf7+

Nd5 loses a pawn, just play e6 and let him take the knight on c3. Although I don't think Nxc3 is a good move for black. Releasing the tension for no reason is just a bad idea.

Yeah that was kind of my conclussion too (that Nxc3 was not a great move for black), but so do you guys think that  the line for white (1. e4d52. exd5Nf63. Bc4Nxd5 4. Nc3)is a stable respons to the scandinavian?

4...e6 transposes to a well trodden line which white is more likely to know. 4...Be6 is a fun little anti-positional looking move at first glance, but black gets some good dynamism in that line and white's less likely to be prepared for it. For instance 5. Qf3 c6 6.Nge2 Nbd7! offers a poisonous pawn on d5. I often see d4 here or just developing. Black can always play Nc6 to exchange the bishops and resolve tension.

Thanks for the input! Ill look a litlle deeper into the lines you suggested -BEES-!

This is no Scandinavian but an Alekhine (1.e4 Nf6 2.Nc3 d5 3.exd5 Nxd5 4.Bc4).

The main continuation is 4...Nb6 5.Bb3 Nc6 6.Nf3 Bf5 7.0-0 e6 8.d4 with normal play.

After 4...Nxc3 5.Qf3 e6 6.Qxc3 Nc6 (danger! trap!) 7.Nf3 Qf6 black also looks ok to me.
