Blackmar gambit
1.e4 d5 is Scandinavian defence. Yes it can be transposed to Blackmar, but 3.f3 right away is not good for white, 3.Nc3 is better line.
For those interested in the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit (and various transpositions), I have a thread here, to which I added a new game yesterday (post #29).

The reason I am specifically interested in this particular variant of the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit, is that it comes out of the French Defence: 1.e4 e6, and I am looking for a good response to this which cuts across all the theory that Black may have prepared. My thanks to everyone for their posted advice!
PeatsP, I think white missed 16. Rh7 in your example. If black plays RxR it's mate in 2. If Bf6 it's mate in 3. If BxN it's mate in 5 (after RxR+, Qh7+, Rf1+ etc.).
I am sorry to rain on the parade. I love gambit play. But in honesty I do not see where this gets White if the gambit is sensibly declined.
...and what comes next? An early f3 has no real place in the Exchange Variation. White doesn't have Nf3 defending d4 against ..., c5 and ..., Nc6 buildups should he play e5. Plans with Bg5 or Nc3 seem just to be a tempo down on Normal Theory. What am I missing?

Actually, Black should take the first and decline the second.
1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.f3? dxe4 4.Bf4 Nf6! -/+
If they decline to exchange on f3 then you kingside will become weak and the pawn also stops the knight to come out to stop the attack on the weak diagonal

Basically, yes.
What a lot of these well meaning people do not grasp when exhibiting their flash bang new ideas is the concept of "habit".
In my ELO 1800 playing days, players who are slaves to the French Defence are LARGELY creatures of habit (and before anyone goes into a woke rage over being generalized, I mean largely but not all). French Defence players as a general rule of thumb do not willy nilly snatch up pawns unless they have a very good idea it will favor them. They GENERALLY favor a slow methodical approach with development to standard strategic end .
Hi everyone!
I am looking at some interesting White ideas against the French Defence. I have come up with an idea, which I have for the moment nicknamed the "French Gambit". I would be very interested to know other players' opinions on this opening idea:
