Good white openings?

I'm not new to chess but I'm new to playing it more seriously. I'd classify myself as a beginner in that sense. I know a few openings I usually use when playing white, but I'd really like to adventure into others. I've looked at certain openings on this site but I'm always unsure whether they're more advantageous for black or white. Could someone give me just the names of some openings that are better for white?

I know the basics to an opening by the way. Such as controlling the centre of the board, developing my pieces, all the stuff that's in the study plan! Thanks guys!

The Ruy Lopez is a common and simple one, and very easy to learn... 1.e4  e5 2. Nf3  Nc6 3.Bb5

yes just play the first 3 moves of the ruy lopez, italian or scotch then play chess. Honestly dont worry about theory after that, learn tactics and your rating will sky rocket.

What happens when on e4 I play e6 or c6? c5 maybe?

I believe that we all should learn 1, but only one line against main answers to e4. Or disaster in few moves.

Yes, all they need though is basically the first 3 or 4 moves ex:

1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.nc3 and friom there play chess

What is this "study plan to which you refer?" As for opening advantages, they are usually non-tactical and thus are meaningless for anyone under 1800 ELO because of the inability of players of this strength to exploit these advantages before they lose material. Open with 1.e4 or 1.d4 planning 2, d4 or 2.e4 respectively. Choose lines for black and white that make the opponents King the target and avoid Q exchanges. Avoid lines which make the pawn structure the target (e.g., openings which are aimed at a minority attack). Avoid openings where the pawn structure is fluid (e.g., the Closed Ruy Lopez). In other words avoid openings which require a lot of verbal explanation to understand and play properly. Target the King and you can wn with any positional disadvantage.

Hi, thanks for the information, the study plan I'm referring to is http://www.chess.com/article/view/study-plan-beyond-the-basics

What is it to King a target? And could you explain more 'lines which make the pawn structure the target? Thanks!

The best is 1.Nf3. You bring your knight in the game on the first move and give your opponent chance to make a mistake.
