not necessarily Stafford

Pertov is junk, stafford variation gives it a chance at least.

Petrov can be exciting outside of the Stafford with the Nimzovitsch or the Cochrane

Otherwise I'd say Petrov is really good as black in positional perspective and that Stafford is unsound however of course for me if I had to play the Petrov as black I would play the Stafford all day
