This forum shall be a collection of games I play using the Gruenfeld Defence opening. My opponents will range from low level players to high level players.

The purpose of why I made my forum is to collect my games, review them, learn from the mistakes I made, help others who might play similar lines, and hopefully improve. I hope you enjoy my games Lady's and Gentlemen. If you have any question, improvements, criticism, or comments on any of my games feel free to comment.

Gruenfeld Defence begins with 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5

*Side note all my games range from 10-0 time control Blitz or 15-10 time control standard unless other wise noted on the game itself*

Here's how you play the Grunfeld:

Nice game ThrillerFan. Yeah I normally play the KID;however, I sometimes feel like mixing it up. An I do know alot of SGM play the Gruenfeld quite a bit. So I began trying to learn it as well to mix it in my rep.

Im a d4 player and I like to learn this opening. But to be honest...........I have no idea what these games (except the one thrillerfan posted) have to do with learning this opening. Only thing I see is that white or black simply blunders away pieces and/or queen. Frown No offense, just asking.

Im interested in the ideas behind the first 8 to 12 moves, sound looking moves that are in fact very bad, possible traps, how to get an advantage using this opening etc.

Well, maybe Im asking too much. Innocent

Well I do plan on adding some to mind. I just wanted to get the games posted at the present moment.

I honestly am just starting out with the gruenfeld so I don't know if those move's are exactly correct which is 1 reason I haven't add any comment yet. lol Don't want to make myself look like a fool telling people something that is wrong. So I been reviewing/studying some to see possible stuff.

Yeah I'm adding some comments to it as we speak. I will admit though lol I am a beginner with this line I'm slowly trying to learn though.

From what I have heard and seen on video's. I believe the goal of this line is to try and give white big center like in KID. However, usually in the KID white tends to close the position more often. In the Gruenfeld black hits the center harder than in the KID. The position usually is more open full of tactics as well instead of closed.

They seem to try and take the c3 knight with the black knight as well and add alot of pressure to d4 pawn with c5 + Nc6 + Bg7 + Queen  all hitting d4

Its a very complex line. However, it seems to be very high recommended and used in SGM level. I would like to be able to play both the KID and Gruenfeld if I can. Because sometimes I like open positions as well and in alot of the KID mainlines the positions usually end up closed.
