How to annoy your opponents (without abusing)

Another way to annoy your opponent is to...

#6 Play the Fianchetto Variation (or Exchange Variation) against the swashbuckling KID player. The Fianghetto variation is a genuine try for an advantage and its harder for Black to accomplish a kingside attack.

Yes. Scandinavian. I forgot about that. I hate when I see 1.e4 d5. I just want to take that d pawn and hit someone with it. Pls, add more annoying openings.

2.d4. You transpose into the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit and suddenly it's you who annoys your opponent. Scandinavian players normally don't like this move, as it gets them out of their plans.

I agree with the other French players: before you play 3.exd5, you might as well offer a draw first.

segway123

one sicillian that not many people know and it is annoying I use a little

also I find it is annoying when your opponent throws you off all of your open sicilian studies and plays the pin variation

Is this annoying?

One thing I am not sure about in this thread: is the OP talking about the lines that annoy him personally, or the lines he uses to annoy opponents ?

Both, but I can't talk in everyones name...

chessica

Never annoy your opponent, instead be thankful and nice as they are the one who gave you a chance to play with, and enjoy chess!

LavaRook

The first one is the new Grivas Sicilian invented by Estefracio (sp?) Grivas.

And isn't the Pin variation unsound or incorrect/suspect or something? I guess its fine for blitz/bullet/rapid though as is a lot of stuff.

chessica

But...never feed them for free LOL

Fischer!!

I love people who just comment and don't bother even to read my post, but only the title.

Like that one time, when I had a topic named "the best ever" where I posted some games and asked what move is best ever. And someone just showed up and posted - Fischer!!

They can offer all they want. I make them play it to the  bitter end. Cool

Yeah, sure this must not be good for the Black, what do you do ?

It looks suicidal to blow open the centre this way while behind in development, but i guess it's hard at our level to really punish this with the clock ticking. On the other hand i doubt i would be annoyed to see an opponent playing this.

Andre_Harding

I used to play the French, and I was ALWAYS happy to see the Exchange Variation! There are limited ways for White to apply pressure there, and I definitely played for a win and usually ended up getting it. The main line variations of the French pose WAY more problems.

I usually play the Sicilian nowadays. I wish ALL of my opponents started with the Smith-Morra (I gladly take the pawn, because I have studied and know how to avoid all their tricks to get a +/= or +/- position right out of the opening).

Some sidelines are good and respectable (for example, the Exchange Ruy as someone mentioned, or the Bb5(+) Sicilians, and maybe a few others) but mostly, having the White pieces and giving your opponent equality or more at the beginning seems weird to me. For this reason, I pity people who play nothing but the London System.

Its not a draw cuz we still got bisopz. So there.

I wonder what would happen if the black player would leave and 1 minute later white would claim a win because black just flagged...

That would become a very annoying situation.

Well, there wasn't a draw claim, no drawoffer and there is sufficiënt material to mate, so if you would follow the rules exactly, the win would stand.

Streptomicin

Just pls don't turn this in one more sufficient/insufficient material monster.
