1. Is the king in check?

2. Can the check be broken?

3. Can the king move?

If the answers are Yes, no, no you've got a checkmate.

heh you'd be saying hello alot, theres alot of us :) i think the easiest way to checkmate is to outsmart your opponent. generally comes with practice :)

thres no real tips, every game's its own. good luck though

speaking as some one who once fell for scholars mate,i have never managed to checkmate in less than, i think it was 14 moves, what are your thoughts/experiences.
