How to trap a queen in the Englund Gambit

Hi guys and you know how to capture your opponent’s queen very easily as Black? Thanks to the Rosen Trap.

Hope you like a lot of frustration and playing chess where you get punished in the later stages of the middle game (and crushed in the endgame!) Do not play this opening... thier is no value in learning it.

I'm NoT one to trash another's choice in an openings, believing that 90% of the openings and defenses are playable all the way up to the international level.

Yet ... the other 10% Are refuted/busted or they are solely based on tactical tricks and swindles...

In this case .. tricks and swindles. In the Englund Gambit, when your opponent doesn't fall for your tricks or swindle type tactics ... you as Black, are left with a bad position.... i.e. behind in development and down at least a pawn...

At least it’s good if your opponent falls for it.

And if you think that it’s bad, don’t blame me, blame IM Eric Rosen.

Yes, I can see that IM Eric Rosen has played this thing. Once, in a blitz game- and the result was predictable.

Thank you... I wonder, will the pro commentators analyze this game, and understand by move 19 (late middle game) he was was fighting to get a 1/2 point.... (emphasis on fighting just to get a half point... in which he failed)

I dont think someone would bother analysing a blitz game played by two sub 2400 players.

I don't think one has to analyze it all that deep. Just by a glance.... By move 17... Black... long term.... was in for a rough place. I'm Just not a fan of the Gambit... Granted, it's probably because at one point... I got tuned up by it pretty bad... causing me to burn some "midnight oil" on it's theory

My latest... foray ... A 5 min Blitz played by me over on Chessbase... Black resigned with 2 min still on his clock. (I have yet to have anyone play this OTB against me in a longer time control)

Eric Rosen played it because he is an IM and he wanted fun but you, you are no IM.

This is an Englund proper (assuming that "Englund" and "Proper" can live together in the same sentence).

Of course 4.Bf4/4.Bg5 is fine, but 4.Nc3! Nxe5 5.Bf4 is equally good, and extremely easy to play: White returns the pawn, gets a huge lead in development (with Qd2/d4, 0-0-0 and e2-e4), and that Queen is extremely clumsily placed at e7.

Chessreps.com tell that after 1.d4 e5 2.dxe5 Nc6 3. Nf3, Qe7 is the best move. But it develops a queen early.

I don’t know what the real name of the opening is, but it’s basically the ICBM for black
