What are your thoughts.  Dubious, and or  playable, or  refuted?

In your line above, I'd say black has compensation for the pawn - semi-open b-file, unopposed dark square bishop to go along with weak dark squares on the kingside, and a lead in development.

I realize white does have some form of compensation...(I don't think the b file is really useful though).  I was curious as to whether there was some sort of refutation to blacks play(probably later in if so)

well 5. Nc3 just looks bad.  5.c3 would be better.  Frankly 4. dxc5?  is bad and I would play either c4 with a Maroczy or c3 and white is comfortable. That's why I play 4. cxd4 instead of Bg2 in this position

Black has a pawn, basically, and that's about it.  White has the bishop pair, an unopposed dark-squared bishop (which could be problematic given the weaknesses on back's kingside), and a significant lead in development and central control (black has only played queen moves and g6, which no longer is beneficial, while white has a central pawn and two pieces out).

All things considered, I'd probably play 4... cxd4 in this situation and deal with the 5. Qxd4 lines or main lines, but this seems playable.

If memory serves me right, 4.dxc4 Qa5+ 5.c3 Qxc5 6.Na3 is supposed to be quite good for white. If 6...Bxc3+ 7.bxc3 Qxc3+ 8.Qd2 Qxa1 9.Nb5 Na6 10.Nc3 I think black loses his queen somehow, but I cannot remember how exactly.

I had a game in this line on this site a long time ago, except black didn't take on c3. Maybe I can find it and see what is going on.
