I hate 1.e4....
Its been twelve years you lunatic
My man has been waiting on the chess forums all these years wondering
"Won't someone tell me a defence to 1.e4? I could've given up a long time ago, but surely someone will answer my question. Some wise sage will help me."
"Play the pirc defence or Sicilian hyperacclerated dragon , I never lost with those two openings."
"EUREKA! OF COURSE. Why didn't anyone tell me this before? In all these 12 long years I've never come across such a defence! But now, surely this will be the answer!"
NOT the latvian! the latvian is trash! if you like gambits, you can do what i so want to do, quit the scandinavian, and play ...f5!? counter gambits (not the latvian... never the latvian! EVER!)
rousseau, luccini, calbrese, & schliemann/jaenisch etc. those lines have awesome stats, but move orders drove me nuts trying to study the rousseau. when you're constantly making the wrong move before 7, it gets frustrating to study and imagine doing well against someone playing you back.
12 years? that's some serious LONG TERM A.D.D.
Maybe try the Caro kann, but if white pushes his e pawn you need to know how to develop while the pawn is on e5

Yes, but the OP has been on line 14 hours ago.
I wonder if he's changed his mind over the past decade.
I have been playing chess for a long time now, but I can say I never adopt an opening system for more than a week or two... I can say for the first time in my entire life I have played two openings past that period (Fajarowicz Gambit and Halloween Gambit) with amazing results... It is hard to lose with these openings... But my record as Black playing against 1.e4 now is down to 8%! I am being murdered, and this is because I have no sharp, trappy line to play against it. I try to play mainline, theoretical wonderlands and get slaughtered. So my question: Does anyone have a sharp, trappy defence against 1.e4 that gets good results? I seriously need one.
Thanks for any comments
I also hate playing against e4 and i don't know which opening choose so i play caro-kann or sicilian. If I were you I would try to play Caro-kann. I really enjoy position after advance caro-kann and then i play c5:
There aren't opening that are the best. If you are higher than less people will fall into a trap. Also good option is to play like French, Sicilian which is very aggresive or maybe Modern Defense/ Pirc defense.
Modern defense:
Pirc defense:
but then you lose because white knows what hes doing
the caro is trash it gives black a passive game with no real attack, learn c5 or e5
False information, fake frogging news i say!
from all you can choose from e5 or c5
you choose the caro??? just why??
you get so much more in e5 and c5 positions. and youre fighting for the win
Latvian is the best if u want to either lose in 10moves or win in ten moves (i.e gambling ur life)
EXACTLY! I DID get a lot of quick wins with the latvian when I first started playing it, but it is NOT a "reversed king's gambit" and black gets into trouble quick against prepared opponents. after about 20 games, my win rate nose dived quickly when opponents stopped blundering the opening.
if you want to play a reversed king's gambit, study the rousseau gambit instead!
french defense! (..e6) I find that I can get equality when playing it.
