ICBM gambit next moves

I’m trying to play the ICBM gambit, but my opponent is threatening my knight on f6 with their pawn instead of putting their knight there. Do I just carry on?

If you're playing the gambit, then your knight is on f3, not f6. Perhaps that's what you meant. This is also known as the Tennison gambit. Typically, the line goes like this:
