Bxf6
Ideas for this opening?
It looks very weak. Black cant have problems here.
Ideas for white ? I guess white wants to have more control over e4 and wants to restrict black bishop with e2-e4-e5. But e2-e4 doesnt work after Bf6 e4 de Ne4 Qd4 (winning a pawn). Slower moves are not so great too.
As Black you can aim at d4 pawn with dc, Nc6, Bf6 so white pawn cant move from e3 to e4. You can open up your bishop with c5 at some point... lot of ideas. Every one of them will be OK.
I would recommend holding off on Bxf6 until Black has spent time moving h6. 6.Bxf6 is a viable alternative to going into the Lasker or Tartakower, and I did it myself a few weeks ago and won in 16 moves:
Notice that he tried to play the tartakower anyway, and trading the Bishop for Knight placed a Bishop on f6, which made the light squares weak on the Kingside for Black. So once he fianchettos the Bishop, I trade the pawns in order to affixiate a Black pawn on d5, to Black the Bishop, and I will never take anything with the d-pawn. If I don't have an immediate attack like I did, I will recapture on d4 with anything, but whatever goes to d4 won't budge. Not letting that Bishop attack my Kingside, and I go for a Kingside pawn storm to win. By blocking off the light-squared Bishop, and trading my Dark-Squared Bishop for his Knight, it lead to a massive attack for White on the Light Squares, and Black died quickly!
D53: Queen's Gambit Declined: Modern Variation, Heral Variation
I have recently come across this opening and would like to know about the ideas for both sides and advantages:
Any ideas and suggestions?
Thanks.
