If you can't dazzle with brilliance, then baffle with bulls..well, you know

I don't like playing games where the person doesn't start in a way that would respect a worthy player's skill - not that I'm that skilled, but it just seemed like a huge insult to make this move.

Actually this is quite a revered opening.

This is called the reversed bongcloud (normal is for white to play Ke2).
There has been extensive analysis on this opening and it is actually quite good and has been in the opening repetoir from players like Anand and Karpov.

As also included:

"2. Ke2

Ke2 is a dubious move. An early 'joke' idea of this move is to prepare for an early endgame by developing the king. However, the problems with 2. Ke2?! are that the King move prevents castling to protect the King, endangers the King, ignores development and the center, and blocks the Queen and Bishop, which are the two pieces that are free after 1. e4. All that being said, it can be used as a surprise to unseat Black, as many novices may be unable to cope with the unfamiliar board positions of the Bongcloud Attack. However, if it has been encountered before, it usually results in a defeat for White. Due to the dubiousness of the move, it can be used as a form of a handicap system."

I'm not really sure where you get strange information like that.
The bongcloud is a serious opening that you should always look out for.
Question to you, do know of a book or long article written by a GM that refutes the bongcloud?

I especially find the Nimzo-bongcloud and the reverserd bongcloud tough openings to play as white.

Since Atos asked me to post games by Anand and Karpov, why delete Atos? It's a fair question, isn't it?

Atos

I concluded that you were probably joking... or not ?

ivandh

Black commits a blunder with Ka7 which drastically reduces his chances of getting to the other side man.

I should note that the Bongcloud has an unblemished record in WCC matches.

RoFL revered BongcloudLaughing when clouds make bing-bongs and flip-flops. I also heard that once Carlsen made the Fool's Mate to Anand (top secret story!Sealed).

Funny that W_R is posting a game that's clearly 2 noobs playing:  Ironically, his diagram, claiming Karpov/Anand, contains the EXACT moves played in his SAME diagram on http://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/ultimate-guide-to-bongcloud-opening?lc=1#last_comment  - but if you notice, he says Karpov in his response, yet KASPAROV in the alleged game that wasn't played, but was really Wouter_Remmerswaal vs. 1jaguar1

The irony of the title of my thread...Cool

Wow you must be highly intelligent to figure that out. I'm sure that any average person wouldn't be able to figure tht out. (by the way, I said that Anand and Karpov used it. And I posted a game with Anand playing it as white. I never said they used it against each other.)

But anyway I have a few words/phrases that might be good to look up in a dictionary/encyclopedia:
- Sarcasm
- Humour
- Pulling someone's leg
- Playing a move as a joke
- LMAO, LOL, ROFL (What was going on at my end this entire topic in a slightly exaggerated way"

Anyway have a nice day. I hope it didn't consume a lot of time to actually try to track down games :p. Cause it sure as hell didn't cost me more then a minute to post it.

panderson2

Isn't it called the "Steiniz Gambit" too? Chigorin used it in some of its games too

I counted the developement points in your game and at move 9 is White 5.5 vs Black Zero ?! Wonder who won ...

Xenekaro

And you Wouter_Remmerswaal, must be a real retard. Because even though you didnt claim that the match was Anand vs Kasparov, the title of the chess match that you posted clearly shows otherwise.

A little check and "proof posting" comment can help, especially when you are so in a hurry to "attack" others.

But anyways, a really interesting opening. Gotta see more in-depth of this opening and then use it in some match!

Actually, you look quite silly right now as you are either unable to understand or read it correcly.
Let me explain slowly:
I said Anand and Karpov used the opening (yes it's a joke)
Then I posted a game with as players Anand and Kasparov (yes it's a made up game)
Vincero then said that the game I posted had Kasparov instead of Karpov.
To which I responded with that I never said that Anand and Karpov played it against EACH OTHER. (the point being that I can say that Anand and Karpov used it without them playing it against each other).

I'm sorry that this probably will offend you, but remember you started it :).

Xenekaro

You should have clarified that the game was  made up. I had thought that you had  mistakenly mistitled the game: "Anand, V vs. Kasparov, G".

Anyways no hard feelings.

Btw do you know  Lenny Bongscloud's real account or real rating. I mean Bong is obviously a spoof rite?

But, nothing is better then telling a silly story and having people believe you. Except telling a silly story and having people pay you for it (a.k.a. scientology :p).

No hard feelings, let's hug it :p.

I don't know. The boncloud account was like 300 rating or something eventually right :p?

pathfinder416

Thank you for my chuckle of the day.

I can imagine the 'bongcloud' being born of a blindfold simul, where someone can be heard anxiously pleading, "No really, I didn't know I was standing at the wrong board. Can we restart this one?"

Lorka
