Hey Everyone, Ive recently started studying the "Leningrad Dutch" , but im not so sure if it's the best kind of style for me. Im looking for a more tactical, open position and im not seeing that too much in the dutch. Can anyone recommend any other opening or suggest somthing im might be doing wrong in the Dutch?

No you are not! Playing for my self the Leningrad i noticed that if black don't achieve a quick e5 then, the position close and tactical opportunities limited in some kind of sort knight maneuvering. The opening is rather for positional approach than tactical so I changed to the Gruenfeld where I find my self more comfortable with an open center and a lot of piece activity. Unfortunately there are variations where the position becomes more static than dynamic but is not that....you know! Leningrad space conditions. If you have time to spent reading a little bit of theory I recommend Borris Avrukh two books for the Gruenfeld. It's worth it.

If you really want to learn the Leningrad or other types of Dutch Defense then you should join us at Dynamic Dutch Defense. We play both the White and the Black side of these structures.
