i played it for 1 year.Honestly, even if you manage to win 1 pawn, you are underdeveloped.It is not an opening where you can get a decent game.
Is the Grobs Attack worth playing?

White is clearly worse after 2.Bg2? Bxg4.
The traditional 3.c4 trick is a failure after 3...c6 4.Qb3 Nf6!- Black need not protect b7, straight development keeps him well on top. The GJ Chess analysis at YouTube is utter bullshit (as usual).

its good opening for blitz/bullet fun and when you sure your opponent doesnt know it, because proper black moves are counterintutive. Thats all.

I think that as long as black plays reasonable moves he gets a good game. Compromising your kingside in the first move just doesn't make any logical sense in my opinion. I think that this line is another interesting option for black as well.

@LazyIntution
Those are some nice lines but they require some cooperation from black. That being said, I'm sure lots of people will fall for these tricks in blitz games. But I still don't think this opening can be recommended for longer time controls or OTB games if you are serious about improving your game.

You can find an interesting thread on the Grob where Pfren mentioned a line suggested by a GM Yannis Nikolaidis.
It looked similar to the one given by TactiCian96 but the remaining d-pawn is very annoying if White plays the natural-looking Nf3:

Thanks everyone!!!!
Ahoy!
The thing is theory is pretty universal when it comes to the "Grob", it just doesn't work.
The problem is that "practically", it does. Look mate, I am not a fan of Pfren. But I will give him due credit, he is a titled player for a reason. When he sez that the Grob is crap (in general terms), he is probably quite right. At his level of chess it probably is. You have better tecnique. You have better prepartion. You have better understanding and so on.
But at your level?? I don't know what you play at and what the level of your opponents are?? But assuming your not IM level...The Grob must give you some practical chances if you choose the right opponent to play it against.

Well, I'm no Master but I have easily kept in mind the line given by Pfren since the time I read it. With only 6 moves, it's not difficult to find it on the board even with memory troubles.
I am about a USCF 1700 rated player and I was wondering if the Grobs Attack is worth playing? I have played it in the past against highly rated players and have sometimes came out a pawn. If you have experience in the G4 opening please let me know!
