Is the Tarrasch Defense Good?

I recently heard about this transposition in the QGD which turns into the Semi-Tarrasch, the Pseudo-Tarrasch, and the plain Tarrasch. I don't intend to learn them, but has anyone heard/learned about it?

Well, all I know is white usually fianchetos on the kingside, and black usually has an isolated queen pawn.
