1. d4 d5
2. f3 Nc6

is ther a better way to play tghis fore black?

dmeng

I would play 2. ...e6 instead. White is weakening the e1-h4 diagonal, and it's nice to be ready to take advantage of it if the opportunity arises.

Besides, Black usually develops the queen's knight to d7 in d4 openings, and when it does come to c6, the c-pawn is normally on c5, not c7.

I disagree with dmeng.

I feel that white wants to play a type of Blackmar Diemer Gambit where I want black to have his bishop out in front of the pawn chain and perhaps tucked into g6 to defend the f7 square.

Maybe play something like 2...Nf6 where if 3.e4 dxe4 4.Nc3 exf3 5.Nxf3 Bf5

Yuo openend descently enough. You pushed a center pawn and developed a piece. Both are sound moves. White playing f3 is generally a bad move as it exposes the king.

Black just needs to be careful of 3.e4 If 3...dxe4 4.d5! N moves then fxe4 and white has a strong centre and will also have a strong f file to play on once he castles. (I used to play the BDG and used to use it's transpositions.)

I like either e6 or c6.   Transposes into a halfway normal opening.  I probably like e6 better than c6.
