Can someone explain why the king's gambit is good and what level it's at?

That is a very long and hard question to answer, but sufice it to say that the Kings Gambit is good because it is highly complex, sharp and white gets a big iniciative if played correctly. It's hard to place openings in levels because even if an opening is not sound at on a level you will still see players playing it once in a blue moon, but it's safe to say Kings Gambit is at most an IM level opening with very few practitionerseven at the IM level. It is best used as a surprise opening at club level where you could have a pretty good sucess rate with it.
