The guccio pianisimo is probably the most boring game out there.
Lets Put Together A Boring Repertoire
No Chess opening need be 'boring' so long as at least one of the players is willing
to risk something in order to try for the win.
For example, take the following ridiculous sequence.....
1.Nc3,Nf6 2.Nd5??,Nxd5 3.Nf3,Nf6 4.Ng1,Ng8 5.e4
By transposition of moves we have reached a position that Paul Morphy
played with the White pieces no less than 95 times in his Chess career.
Of these games , Morphy won 57 and lost 31 with 7 draws.
I doubt that he found any of these games 'boring' at all.

The French, and white plays e4xd5 on the third move. AARRRGGHH!
- Zug
i only really play the french and that is by far the most boring line...overall though i think the spanish is overplayed as is KID, not implicitly boring just seen to often

Black can castle queenside and launch a pawnstorm!

anything symmetrical...
As white : Go for : 1.d4 The London system.
As black vs : 1.e4 1...c6 The Caro-kann (Note that white can escape the petroff by playing 2.Nc3).
Black vs 1.d4 1...d5 The Queens gambit declined.
Black vs 1.c4 1...e6 go for the The Queens gambit declined.
Black vs 1.Nf3 1...d5 The Queens gambit declined.
Against the Reti : Play the New York system.
Against the Colle : Play Anti-Colle with black playing an early Bf5
Against the London : Play black system with an early Bd6.
Against the Bird : 1...f5 Boring for many Bird players.
Against 1. Nc3 Play 1...c6 And white has nothing better then letting black play the Caro-Kann.
If you play this repertoire against a player on ICC for more than 20 games in a row he will not play more chess that day :)

This is fun.
As White: Colle
As Black: Petroff vs. e4, a6 slav vs d4.
And remember, always release the tension, always.

A boring repetoire? Well, I would suggest -
White: Muzio Gambit, Sicilian Dragon (Yugoslav lines), Marshall Attack
Black: Modern Benoni, Schliemann Defence, Albin Countergambit
I've never seen an interesting game with any of these opening choices.

I think you forgot to include the wink?
All internet posts should be taken with a grain of salt. Or sometimes a tablespoon.
WINK :)
Legit opinion - I've never been impressed by the Caro-Kann or the Closed Sicilian, I don't find either to be interesting choices. King's Gambit Declined is also no funsies.

As White: Only play exchange variations.
As Black: Play the French against e4, the Slav against d4, and *hope* for exchange variations. :)

i play caro kann, its pretty boring, just sit back and watch from your unbreakable wall of pawns
BUT,the Panov/Botivinik attack is very exciting!!!!(meaning not boring)

A line in the Petroff that people don't often play is 3...Nxe4!?. After a likely queen trade, the game can get so symmetrical it's not funny.
Hmmm
If you are suggesting:
I think you will find that it isn't so good for Black. I thought it lost a pawn on the analysis I remembered - never the less, not so good.
I think the Caro can lead to interesting themes. But the Exchange French is the worst. In fact White can transpose into an Exchange French from the Petroff ! :
The difference is that White has lost a move ? BUT in the Petroff the Black Knight on e4 can also be undermined (apparently). Interesting dichotomy that.

Boring openings are just normal openings played by boring people. I've seen the sharpest battles in some Caro-Kann variations and Sicilian games that would bore you to death. So hate the player, not the game.

I try to hate the player but Ozzie seems like such a nice guy that I have to focus on his Caro-Kann instead.
Ozzie a nice guy ?!! That's NOT what I heard ....

For black against 1.e4 - The Caro-Kann with ...Nd7 alternating with the Petroff.
Against 1.d4 - QGD Semi-Slav Meran alternating with the QGD Tartakower-Bondarevsky-Makogonov
As white - the Catalan, the Colle and the Slav Exchange
I think Karpov has to be one of the main trendsetters in the boring department, although lately Peter Leko has been trying to give him a run for his money.

Are you kidding? that one of my favorite lines!
I knnow a lot of people think it's drawish, but I think that white can make a fun game out of it wit ha king side attack
Black outscores white in the exchange French. I think the reason usually given is that a poorer player uses it to try and get a draw against a stronger player.
ANOTHER reason might be that white is in "Zugzwang Lite" after the exchange and black has the advantage of being able to REACT to what white plays. An interesting concept which suggests the first move initiative of white, in symmetrical positions depends on the position itself.
Someone mentioned earlier about the Petroff being dynamic in certain situations. It seems to me that black's kingside attack spearheaded by his e4 knight only happens if white pursues queenside ambitions and tries to make a game of it.
