Yes but your why I want to find a gambit on the Caro. To mess w/ you! mahahahaha!

Could try the hillbilly

The Hillbilly is probably the worst variation to play against the Caro-Kann. If you want something aggressive try the Panov-Botvinnik. Maybe even the Tal in the Advance variation with the immediate h4.

Fantasy variation?

Play this- it guarantees hanging material.

I personally play this, like chessknight said, the Caro is too solid for gambits.

2nd one you posted sounds good and I'll look into it.

The 1st one? I love dubious gambits but not that much...

Tal sound interesting I'll look in to it.

You might try the Shirov variation, characterized by white playing e5, Nc3, and g4. It's a pretty rare line, and black players who don't know it can easily end up getting crushed. You don't even have to gambit material!

Of course, you'll have to prepare something else against black's 3... c5. wink.png

I played a (dubious) gambit incessantly vs the Caro Kann about 2 years ago. If black accepts the pawn it'll lead to a sharp game... although black is perfectly able to decline the pawn and white's side will look a bit disorganized.

A warning tho: 3.Bg5 is out of book and never been played at the professional level, probably for a reason. It's fun to play tho, leads to unusual positions. happy.png

Here's the Mises Gambit, not sure how good it is.

Here's a way to transpose to QG to the Demier gambit.

There is a wonderful book in German on Gambits in the Caro that can be found in pdf format.

You don't have to be able to read German (all though it does help), you just need to be able to read chess notation.

Send me a PM if your interested and I will point 6ou in the direction to find it

I found an insane gambit vs the Caro while working with an engine. AFAIK it doesnt have a name yet.

White trades queens, but still has a mating attack. This is objectively bad, but if black doesn't play all the best moves he is dead. For instance, 8..Nf6 and 8..a6 both lose on the spot

Caro-Kann has not a gambit but I suggest you an alternative. Check out this course https://chessmood.com/course/caro-kann-defence

yeah unless you get a transposition

The Hillbily attack:

I tried the sneaky 1.e4 c6 2. Ne2!? If black continues with the usual 2... d5 3 e5 Bf5 there’s a gambit after 4. Ng3 Bg6 5. h4 h6 6. h5 Bh7 7. e6!? lots of weak white squares to play against at the b1/h7 diagonal, the maneuver Nb1/d2/f3 to put a clamp on e5 and g5 squares, etc.

There is no gambit that you can force that is sound, but there are some lines that feature a gambit for White.  For example, one that I play is:

I played exf because I forgot my theory cry.png
