It's fun for white maybe in the max Lange...but for black??
Max Lange: 9...g6

Way off topic now, but no biggie as my original question was answered, I found a couple of games I played against a NM in Ottawa back around 2000, rapid games against Kevin Pacey, even though both were draws, they had that chaotic Max Lange look to them and were fun to play

The position at #37 is actually fine for Black, provided that he plays creatively:
10...Rg8! (an engine discovery) is the kind of utterly stupid move, which actually turns out being brilliant: Black anticipates that white isn't going anywhere without taking at f6, and places his rook on the potentially open file. Objectively Black has no advantage, yet in practice he has scored 60% after this "stupid" move.

Can't white play Qe1-Qh4 to take advantage of this plan?
White has to spare a tempo on Kh1, else some ...Qc5 may win material for Black- so he might do it at once.
On the immediate 11.Qe1, 11...Be6 followed by ...0-0-0 looks strong.

Just played in an active tourney a few weekends ago and was able to test out the position after 8. fxg7, though made a few inaccuracies, I still managed to win.

11...Kxe7! is the right recapture, and 12.Re4 should be answered by the sharp 12...d3! when Black is OK. Plenty of material available.

According to the Chessbase cloud database your 12 nbd2 is and actually scores better than Re4. After 12. ... Qd5 the online database scores the position as = although 13 b3 scores 75%.
The position after 13 b3 occurs twice in my copy of the "Big 2015" database, first in Miesis-Teichmann in 1909 which black won and then again in Mueller-Hoffman in 2007, which white won.
Statistics do not play chess, unfortunately.
12.Nbd2 is an inaccuracy due to 12...Kf6! (one of the main ideas behind 11...Ke7- the king will take the g7 pawn and find a safe heaven at h8) when Black is more than OK. Objectively the game is equal, and engines agree on that, but it's certainly much easier for Black to play.
12.Re4 is the only testing move.
Black does not have to enter a Max lange under other move orders as well:
Both variations are very well tested, and absolutely fine for Black.
