French always ends up positional for me. You could try the Sicilian or Pirc for Black. For White you could try the Tartakower Attack (1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5), which is pretty much a sped-up version of the Torre.
my opennings are boring...help

i play alot off gambits to have fun games.ie budapest gambit and benko gambit for black and danish gambit and blackmiear gambit for white.

TROMPOWSKY not tarkatower lol
I forgot about gambits...you could try a lot of those with White. Also there are a few little-known gambits for Black that I like to spring out every now and then, such as the Blumenfeld Counter-Gambit.

Oops. hahaha You're right.
Scotch(haxo) as white and the 4 knights/traxler is what I try to aim to if you're really feeling adventurous... and of course the halloween gambit if you're really gung-ho on killing the guy.

Siciallian for black is fun. What about just 1.e5, you get to play a bit of everything then! Personally I think the black side of Ruy Lopez is very exciting, I tend not to play 1... e5 though to avoid 4 nights, boring boring boring!
I like the Grunfeld for black against 1.d4 and also KID is interesting, but maybe a bit like the French if your bored of that.
For white the Scotch Gambit is very fun and gives good play and is known to be sound for white - see GM Dzindzichavelli's (Ive no idea if I spelt his name right there - sorry GM if you read this and its wrong) video on here. Otherwise I like the Ruy Lopez.
But basically you just need a change, any opening can get boring after a while, its good to know a few lines for fun and variation.

Play what is the most comfortable for you. Dont play something just because its more "exciting" or because "tactical" or "extreme" openings are the flavor of the month. Tactics can and will arise from any opening.
Tigran Petrosian was one of the most "boring" players ever, but he was a world champion. And he was also one of the hardest men to beat.
I've been playing the torre as white and the french as black alot. I notice that in my OTB games are very quite and positional. I would perfer to play more tactical games. What do you recommend? or do I just need to change the way I'm playing these openings?
