10. b3..Bb7 is the mainline. I love this opening but everytime I try to play it I have to face the Marshall Gambit and I don't care much for the black side of that so I gave it up.

As Mezmer points out you are playing ...Nf6 too soon.  You need to play on the queenside with ...a5 and ...Bb7.

How can black steer for an advantage?  Statistically, Black has an advantage in the Noteboom.  Theoretically white should have a normal position but in practice those distant passers are difficult to deal with.  I play the white side of the Noteboom.  It always seems like those passers run fast.

Ah, you are right. I didn't notice that the posted moves were not, themselves the mainline.  7...a5  8.axb5..Bxc3, 9.Bxc3..cxb5, 10.b3..Bb7 is correct. Or at least it's the mainline as I know it.

Ok thank you very much before 7...Nf6 I use to play 7...Nbd7 or 7...Bb7  but a coach of mine said 7...Nf6 looked safer to him and thats what I've played since then with great success aswell. Is it safe to say that the line I presented where black plays the early 7...Nf6 that 10.b3 refutes this line cause of all the problems black starts to get or if not why then ?

Burke: Funny you should say taht cause I almost gave it up cause of the marshall gambit aswell but I looked into the pawn structure a bit more and found out how to play those types of positions better but still not sure since I don't encounter the Marshall gambit alot anyway.

Awesome I hope you get well soon. I was planning to play 7...a5 instead of 7...Bb7 nice to know I got chances with my choice.

At chessworld.net, the ratings at the high end are vastly inflated.  As for the other babbling that you did, maybe you can restate it more clearly, Dave_antolie.

I doubt your 7...Nf6 innovation in the Noteboom is worth anything.

there are new devolpments in this opening wich needs (yes i agree more study)

I made a fairly intensive study of this opening a few years back before I stopped playing it. At least more intense than any other opening I've ever studied.  I would be very interested to see anything new that anyone has come up with. Of course, secrets are secrects, but anything not secret would be of great interest to me.
