This is the first game that I have played somone who opened up the ruy lopez.. I didn't know what to do but I did what I could and still managed the win, however, I was a little afraid because my opponent had only lost 1 game and I was not prepared for this.  Does anyone know where I can fin

d moves to counter an open?

5...f6 is the book move but Bg4 is fine

you played the opening pretty well

I would have played 10...Nf6 or Bd6 or Kb8

you really needed to develope you kingside before pushing b5 and c5 and c4. After 13. ...bxc4 white had the edge, but he didn't play all that well after that and then dropped a piece.

overall good game

Why 7...Bxf3?  Sure, the exchange seems fine since it'll weaken white's pressure on your e5 pawn but white's knight is not only pinned to the queen but the queen is in some ways pinned to the knight, for if it neglects to guard the knight you go for the exchange and rip open the kingside.

Nicely played though, sorry I'm not giving more innovative comments for later on in the game, I'm just focusing on potential counter attacks.
