I often play 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 but what can I do after this ? even invented openings are welcome as long as they are not garbage.

wdym you play e4 e5 nf3 nc6 then have no idea about the next move??

anyway... (in no particular order)

1) ruy lopez (3 Bb5)

very good opening, it will be closed but there are also some variations which are more open, white puts lots of pressure on black, black has a bunch of mediocre replies and a few top ones

2) italian (3 Bc4)

it has many open tactical variations and many closed tactical variations but is closer to equality than the ruy and also puts less pressure, here there are less mediocre repies

3) scotch (3 d4)

forcing play, black has a few good lines and everything else is pure trash, its a very open game

4) four knights (3 Nc3)

it leads to a simple but closed and very symmetric game and removes all advantage white can hope for

5) ponziani (3 c3)

very tricky and trappy but is the worst objectively of all these, black has again a few good replies and a bunch of worse ones

every other third move isnt a real thing

there can be way more detail added here btw

Ponziani is good, Ilampozhil25, but you must know that I am a ruy lopez player who looks for something interesting and chaotic.
