Openings with Clear Plans and Themes

I've been playing the Caro-Kann a lot lately because I feel like I can really grasp it thanks to the common themes (exploiting the c-file, rapid development of the light-squared bishop) and plans (advancing the c-pawn, in the non-exchange lines), and my understanding of the position gives me an edge. However, I've been playing it a lot lately, including on the relatively small local tournament scene, and I don't want to stunt my growth as a player or inspire my frequent opponents to book up on me (note, at my level of play, that would just mean knowing a few more moves of theory).

So my question for you opening gurus is this: what are other openings that feature this clarity, both for white and for black? I've had the Colle recommended to me, but it's a bit rigid, and since the local circuit features a lot of players stronger than me, I've found that it's true that it leads to equality at best. I've also been considering learning the Alekhine or KG, but that's just because the first one is so exotic and the second one so aggressive.

What do you recommend I add to my repetoire?

Yes, tactics have been almost my exclusive focus for about a month now, with a few master games thrown in. I'm thinking of trying to get a bit of endgame work in too. The main reason I'm looking to expand my opening repetoire a bit is to increase my chances of reaching solid middlegames.
