As you say every game is different and a bayonet assault can be good or terrible depending on the situation. Maybe you can give some examples. Generally speaking the principled reaction is to secure an advantage in development while your opponent is pushing his pawns and then strike as hard as you can in the centre with an energic pawn break. Panicking and pushing your own side pawns is generally a bad idea, creating weaknesses which only make the attack stronger.

Hello
Occasionally I have to face few opponents who rush their pawns all over the board (specially where I have castled)and I don't really know how to react.Should I reply the same way? Each game is different but is there some pattern how to deal with these rushing pawns? Thanks.
