Playing the Scandinavian is a setup...

*as a setup, sorry. What do you think? of this idea - to play any opening as a setup (like people who play 1.Nf3 and play a King's Indian Defense), is that even legal? If so, in what countries?

Sure made me think a lot. I won Morphy-Opera style, without the rook, (for obvious reasons). Still, it confused me...

e4 player here, I don't understand what do you mean, are you asking if you can play against the Scandi like a setup? Of course not, the Scandi is not 1... a6 and you need to put some effort if you want an advantage

No, I'm asking, do you think that playing the Scandi', and other openings, as a setup, seem right to you? - as a setup = regardless of what the opponent is doing - like in here - I played 1.c4, he played the Scandi' Anyways... what do you think of his choice?

There is no such thing.  The Scandinavian is specifically 1.e4 d5.  If White plays a different move, it is not a Scandinavian.  1.Nf3 d5, 1.d4 d5, 1.c4 d5?!, none if these are the Scandinavian defense!

Why 4.e3?

Either 4.d4 or 4.Nf3 are much more logical, and white will proceed with normal development while Black's Queen at a5 is rather silly.
