Ponziani Opening

Sort:
Avatar of BrianWall

I lost but it's OK I need the practice - basically no one knows the right lines for White yet.

IM Dorel Oltean played a bad variation and I was winning the first half of the game, in addition,

10 ... Ng4!! first and then ... dxc6!! is much stronger.

Thanks to great player, Brian Wall, who is both friend and destroyer of the Ponziani for posting a game where he lost using the Fraser Defense.

Looking at the game, Brian Wall had the advantage in the opening and also after the opening. So this does not change the theory that the Fraser can at least force a draw against the Ponziani.

Kant getting back to your posted game. It was very interesting and you played very well except, as you say, you did not convert your advantage.

But quite interesting game!  {[ou might want to post it again]

i couldonly re-post the analysis, not the comments.

A better option for White is Rg1 a move earlier: 9. Rg1, then there are 2 games with 9...dxc6 in chesslive.de/"megabase" but they are both by low/unknown-rated players.  Stockfish however seems to think Black can sacrifice another piece with 9...0-0  10. cxb7 Bxb7  11. Qxb7 Qf6

Brian, it is difficult to follow your games.  Why noy put them in diagram form?

Avatar of ponz111

Congratulations! to my former team, Ponziani Power, they are now ranked #12 in Vote Chess Elo Ratings. Up from #13.  I think there are about 681 teams.

Avatar of kantifields

That was not nice.  We have not won any games that Ponz was not a participant.  We are doing well in our current games largely thanks to Expertise's accurate analysis.

Avatar of Expertise87

I've definitely made a few errors but others have caught them in time :) the most recent one being one move ago in a game!

Avatar of Tekoa

No that wasn't nice. Ponz111 is highly valued.

Guess they don't need you to advance.
