In my effort to consolidate my repertoire, plus not play what everyone and their uncles are playing, I've recently taken up 1 b4 using Carsten Hansen's book, and plan on getting The Modern Gurgenidz: A Counterpunching Repertoire for Black by Jaan Ehlvest (supposedly being released this month). After 1 e4 g6 2 d4 Bg7 3 Nc3 black plays 3....c6 preparing ...d5 (black avoids the dangerous Austrian Attack 3...d6 4 f4), but against 3 Nf3 black plays 3...d6, preparing ...e5. The table of contents in its preview indicates 1 d4 2 c4 is also covered, and 1 c4, 1 b3, 1 f4 too, Black goes 1....g6 against all those.

as a white player, I find gambit dodging french players PARTICULARLY infuriating. they refuse to give me anything to attack and it drives me nuts.
